NEW ORLEANS, LA — Can you explore New Orleans with only $10?

Well, yes, you can. You don’t have to be loaded to experience what New Orleans has to offer. Play a round of mini-golf at City Putt, take a ride on the streetcar, visit a Louisiana State Museum or see a movie, and more. Here are five things you can do in NOLA for $10 or less.

Packed with free and cheap historical attractions, visiting Jackson Square is a must in New Orleans. Take a free tour of St. Louis Cathedral in Jackson Square and study its centuries-old architecture.

Flanking the cathedral on both sides are the Cabildo and Presbytère, Louisiana State Museums, featuring exhibitions on Mardi Gras and historic Louisiana items. The admission is $8 for adults, $6 for students, seniors, and active military, and free entry for children under six years of age.

A visit to New Orleans wouldn’t be much without tasting some beignets. What’s great is in Café du Monde, you already get three beignets for only $4.

That leaves room for a café au lait, hot chocolate, or a beverage of your choosing to quench your thirst. Visit Café du Monde at two locations: in the iconic French Quarter or family-friendly City Park.

Located within New Orleans City Park, City Putt is the only mini-golf course in New Orleans. A course that is full of NOLA-inspired sculptures will only cost you $10.

With just a handful of changes, you can play the slots at Harrah’s Casino. Head downtown to try your luck at one of the casino’s 700 penny slots, which are one- and two-cent slot machines. While you’re there, get a bite to eat or a drink.

The streetcar is a great way to experience New Orleans on a budget, costing $1.25 each trip or $3 for an unlimited day pass. Take a ride on the historic St. Charles Avenue line to see a variety of architectural styles. Stop at shops, restaurants, and parks along the road.
