The pork belly sandwich is a perennial local favorite with a 6-hour oak-smoked Heritage pork belly, tomato, lettuce, garlic aioli, and pepper jam.
All between two huge slices of locally sourced bread:
The Heritage Sandwich Shop is a casual lunch counter where you can order food to eat there or take it home.
The sandwiches are made by Restauration chef Philip Pretty and restaurateur (and sister) Lauren Pretty in Long Beach.
Pretty has served sandwiches for years, first as Fundamental's head chef in LA before moving back to his hometown of Long Beach with the opening of Restauration. With the opening of Restauration in Long Beach, Pretty became a legend in his own right.
Now they've recently opened a full restaurant for dinner on the same site as Heritage Sandwich Shop, called simply Heritage.
Heritage is not only open later than their lunch spot, but also features an expanded menu with wine options. The food is all about fresh California cuisine with small plates and cooking local ingredients over a live fire.
Sandwiches are made with the freshest, top-quality local ingredients.
I'm sure you're wondering what makes Phillip Pretty Heritage Sandwich Shop different from other sandwich shops - well one thing they do differently is their bread which comes in locally.
They also use 100% farmers' market produce, house-smoked meat and take advantage of all the excellent local seafood found in Southern California.
