A man passed away and his wife was injured after a shooting incident that started right after the Puerto Rican Day parade in Chicago, according to the authorities.

What are the details?

The couple found themselves ambushed by two or three men, who suddenly started attacking them. They took out their guns and shot at the couple in the 3200 block of West Division Street in Humboldt Park.

The incident took place at around 9:13 p.m. on Saturday night, based on an email from the Chicago Police Department to the Washington Examiner.

The man was badly hurt and had to be rushed by the police to St. Mary's Hospital. His wife was also injured and was transported to Stroger Hospital. When she arrived there, she was in critical condition.

Unfortunately, her husband passed away as soon as he arrived at the hospital. The woman’s condition may change at any time, the police have added.

No one has been arrested for the shooting yet. Area Four detectives are actively searching for the perpetrators of the terrible attack.

Gyovanny Arzuaga, 24, and Yasmin Perez, 25, were identified as being the two victims of the attack which took place mere hours after the Puerto Rican Day parade had ended.

“My heart is destroyed. That was my best friend, my brother,” Arzuaga’s brother said for the news outlet.

A memorial was erected for the man who was a father of two children a few feet away from the place where he was attacked, the Chicago Sun-Times reported.
