If you are vaccinated, you probably remember getting a white vaccination card afterward. The card has information about when you were vaccinated and which vaccine you got.

Overall, it’s pretty useless.

The card is super easy to forge, and people have tried. A Long Island man and a Californian have already been arrested for trying.

They are also incredibly easy to lose or damage.

Thankfully, we now have another option.

California has just made a digital version available to its residents.

Digital Vaccine Record

California just released a new digital vaccine verification system. Residents can use it instead of the white card they were given when they were vaccinated.

The process is simple. Just visit the website and enter some personal information. You will then receive a text or email with a link to your records. There will be a QR code that can be scanned to verify your vaccination status

Is It A Requirement?

The FAQ section of the state’s website cleared up on big misconception.

This is not a “vaccine passport.” This is simply an option to prove your vaccination status. There is nothing mandatory about it.

How Is It Useful?

With California officially reopened, people are starting to return to normal.

The state has no requirements for proving vaccination. However, some individual businesses might. This is an easy way to prove your status.

Most small businesses probably won’t require proof of vaccination. However, large sporting or music events might. Simply scanning a QR code is about as easy as it gets.

Not The First

California is not the first state to do something like this.

New York has its Excelsior Pass

Unlike the Excelsior pass, California’s system doesn’t require residents to install an app on their phones.

My Thoughts

Some people will hate being asked to verify their vaccine status to businesses. However, I don’t mind.

Many businesses have rules I don’t like. I either follow them or shop elsewhere.

At least now we don’t have to worry about losing a little white card.
