(BOULDER, Colo.) Colorado Gov. Jared Polis signed three new gun reforms into law on Saturday in reaction to the deadly March mass shooting that killed 10 people.

These new laws expand background checks, permits cities to have stricter gun laws in the state and creates an office for gun violence prevention, according to Axios.

Democratic Boulder Rep. Judy Amabile, a sponsor of one of the bills, said the legislation "isn't just about mass shootings."

"It's about what we sadly call everyday gun violence," Amabile said. "Every day, people are dying all across our state from homicides, from accidents, from mass shootings and mostly from suicide."

However, the new laws come in the wake of two separate shootings that left five people wounded in Colorado Springs, including a shooting that injured three people under the age of 18 and a shooting at Boston Market.
