Nixa introduces large trash pickup program
NIXA, Mo. (KY3) - Nixa has launched a new program for residents to leave one large trash item at their curb each week, in addition to their normal trash collection. Republic Services will soon start picking up one large item to discard from residential households per week throughout the year. This change comes after the Nixa City Council voted earlier this week to amend the trash service agreement between the City of Nixa and Republic Services of the Ozarks. Read more
Nixa within a peck of allowing chickens
Nixa residents are one vote away from being allowed to keep egg-laying hens in their backyards. The Nixa City Council heard the first reading of a bill that, if enacted, would create an ordinance allowing the keeping and husbandry of chickens in residential areas. The bill was written by a special subcommittee which held a public hearing in May and wrote a bill with input from citizens. Read more
City Of Nixa Amends Trash Service Agreement; Replaces Citywide Clean-Up Day
As part of a Nixa City Council vote, there’s been a change to the city’s trash service agreement. The agreement between Nixa and Republic Services previously had a “citywide clean-up day” once a year but the amended agreement says Republic Services will now pick up one large item each week as needed per residential home throughout the year. A celebration of life service will be held on at 1 p.m. on Saturday, June 19, 2021, at Healing River Worship Center, 265 Oak Ridge Road, Walnut Shade. Carlos Berton Rees was born to Paul and Naomi Harrington Rees on May 20, 1949, in Shelbyville, Illinois. Along with three siblings, Carlos and his family moved back to their ancestral home in Nixa, Missouri, in 1963, where he remained throughout his life. Read more
