Shane Douglas Lee, of Palmer, Alaska, passed away unexpectedly on January 29, 2021, in Needles, California. He was 63 years old. Shane was born to parents Jesse and Doris Lee in Ft. Polk, Louisiana, on June 18, 1957, when his father was serving in the Army. When Shane was still a baby his family moved to Alaska, where he would spend nearly all of his life. Read more

Troopers say missing Palmer hiker has been found alive. She had been missing since early Tuesday

ANCHORAGE, Alaska (KTUU) - Alaska State Troopers say a Palmer woman who had been missing from a hiking trail since early Tuesday has been found alive. According to an online dispatch updated at 6:05 p.m., 55-year-old Palmer resident Fina Kiefer was reported to have walked out of the woods as a volunteer search and rescue member was driving by on Knik River Road, about a mile from the Pioneer Ridge Trail trailhead. Hiker missing after reported bear encounter on Palmer-area trail found alive

A hiker who went missing early Tuesday morning on a trail near Palmer has been found alive, according to a report from Alaska State Troopers. Troopers say a volunteer from the search and rescue team was leaving the area around 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, when 55-year-old Palmer resident Fina Kiefer walked out of the woods about a mile from the Pioneer Ridge trailhead on Knik River Road.
