YouTube for iOS is finally getting Picture-in-Picture support for all Premium and non-premium subscribers. According to The Verge, it will be first rolled out for premium subscribers, later on for non-premium users.
PIP (Picture-in-Picture) isn’t a unique feature, as Android has had this feature for a long time. This feature will allow iOS users to watch YouTube videos in a pop window while doing other tasks.
iOS users could finally do multitasking along with watching YT content, thanks to PIP support.
Furthermore, according to some users, the Picture-in-Picture mode works on iPad using Safari. But on the other side, some of them mentioned that it doesn’t work for non-premium users.
Despite this, US iOS users will soon get this feature using the official YouTube app. There isn’t any official hint regarding its arrival, however, for Premium users, it might be rolled out soon.
“Picture-in-Picture (PiP) allows users to watch YouTube videos in a small mini player while simultaneously browsing outside of the youtube app on their mobile device. We’re starting to roll out PiP for YouTube Premium members on iOS and plan to launch PiP for all US iOS users as well”

What is Picture-in-Picture Mode
This literally maximizes the video into a small pop-up window, which you can move around your home screen. Users are able to do multitasking without skipping the video.
On Android, you can simply press the home button, and the video will be compressed into a PiP window. You can drag it to every edge of your home screen.
