AKRON, OH — The City of Akron offices reopened for in-person services and general public access on Tuesday, June 15, 2021. This includes in-person services, such as job applications, building permits and vendor licenses; utility bills, taxes or fees payment; filing public records requests or discrimination claims; and rental properties registration.

Visitors are encouraged to keep a six-foot distance from others, to wear facial coverings if they have not been fully vaccinated and to maintain safe hygiene practices. A facial covering is not required for those who are fully vaccinated.

When receiving services from individual offices, there may be additional instructions regarding maximum occupancy. Residents will continue to have the same online and phone access to services that they previously did.

In addition to the reopening of City offices, the City of Akron will begin charging for metered parking in downtown Akron today. During the construction of Main Street and the pandemic response, the City provided two hours of free parking for visitors to downtown. The City will reintroduce paid parking after Phase I construction is completed and the health mandates are lifted.

Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m., metered parking is in effect. After 6:00 p.m. and on weekends, meters will be free. You will be able to pay with a mobile app in addition to quarters beginning next Friday, June 25. Download Flowbird on your smart device and follow the instructions on the meter to pay.
