MENTOR, CLEVELAND, OHIO — The Headlands BeachFest will return this year after two years break at Headlands Beach State Park on Saturday, July 17, 2021, from 11 AM to 7 PM.
Dubbed the “ultimate beach party”, the event will be packed with all-day entertainment, hands-on activities, food trucks, arts and crafts vendors. The Ohio Master Sand Sculpting Competition is the highlight of this festival.
The first beach party was held in 2014, with up to 15,000 visitors every year from Northeast Ohio and surrounding states. The event was once cancelled in 2019 due to high Lake Erie water levels and then got cancelled again in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
This year’s festival will feature three world champion sand sculptors from Ohio Master Sand Sculpting Competition who will build enormous sculptures in three days. The sculpting process will begin on Thursday, July 15, and is estimated to be completed during the afternoon of the event day when BeachFest visitors will have the chance to vote for this year’s champion.
Children of all ages will also have plenty of chances to create their own sandcastle and competing in the Family Sandcastle Building Contest.
There will be music by DJ Stray and performances from the Jasmine Dragons acrobatic show and Bubble Magic. Various food trucks will be offering plenty of foods for visitors, including wood-baked pizza to kettle corn. The arts and crafts vendors will be selling many beach-themed items as well.
Headlands BeachFest is presented by LakeHealth, sponsored by Meijer, Mutsko Insurance, CT Consultants, Mimi Vanderhaven, and Remarkable Lake County. Headlands Beach State Park is located at 9601 Headlands Road. There will be no entrance and parking admission as well.
