Background on the critical race theory
Critical race theory is a civil-rights academic movement started in Los Angeles that aims to question conventional liberal approaches to racial justice by critically examining the law as it interacts with problems of race. Critical race theory looks at how race and racism affect social, cultural, and legal problems.
The collection of social advantages, privileges, and courtesies that come with being a member of the dominant race is known as white privilege (i.e., white people with big mansions in West Los Angeles). White privilege is defined as a shop assistant not following a white individual around a store because they are suspected of stealing. People not crossing the street at night to avoid a white person is another example.

According to a report from Cities 929, a radio station where Smith also conducts a talk program, Ty Smith, a Black man, made the remarks during a meeting of District 87 School Board.
Smith’s program is called “Cancel This” and he also has a YouTube account where he used to just post response videos until lately starting to share his political views.
Benny Johnson, the chief creative officer of the conservative student group Turning Point USA, posted the video. By Friday morning, it had had 2 million views. The video sparked a series of mixed emotions in Los Angeles where racial tension is like a harp string after the BML movement.
“When you talk about Critical Race Theory, which is pretty much going to be teaching kids how to hate each other, how to dislike each other,” Smith told the school board.
“That’s essentially what it’ll all boil down to. You’re going to convince a white child that “this white kid right here has it better than you because he’s white,” and that “the Black folks are all down and oppressed.”
“How do I have two medical degrees if I’m sitting here oppressed?” Smith stated his opinion.
According to Smith, African-Americans are taught that white people would hold them down. Despite having faced challenges throughout his life, he said that this had not been his experience.

Suzie Hutton, a local teacher, and student Yvin Chin, according to a story from Cities 929 on June 10, reacted to Smith’s comments at the school board meeting, with Hutton claiming that CRT was not being taught in schools.
Critical race theory investigates the intersections of race and racism with culture, law, and politics. In recent weeks, the idea that CRT might be taught in schools has received a lot of backlash, even from elected Republicans.
