A dramatic incident took place in a police interrogation room in Las Vegas on Thursday. A suspect who had reportedly just confessed to killing a toddler didn’t hesitate to reach for a detective’s gun.

It happened right after admitting to what he had done, according to Yahoo News.

What are the details?

Fox 5 Vegas reported that Terrell Rhodes was talking to the detectives. The suspect had just admitted to getting angry after the 2-year-old little boy wet himself.

The police said for the Las Vegas Review-Journal that Rhodes had initially claimed that the boy had been kidnapped by an unknown woman who had come to take him. Eventually, he drew a map for the investigators and the boy was found at the location he indicated.

The news outlet obtained video footage of an emotional Rhodes while inside the interrogation room. The police officers came inside and did their best to try and help him calm down.

That was the moment when he tried to get the gun from one of the detectives.

“Let me out of here. I can't go back,” he said.

Several officers came inside the room to stop the struggle and they were eventually able to keep the suspect under control. The gun was taken away from Rhodes.

Las Vegas police announced on May 11 that they had taken Rhodes into custody. This happened just days after the authorities posted fliers everywhere and the investigators went to the boy’s father in Reno and other relatives in California.

The toddler had been left with Rhodes by his mother, Tayler Nicholson, while she traveled to Colorado to look after her mother.

Terrell Rhodes pleaded not guilty. His next court date for the Las Vegas tragic incident is June 25.
