DEKALB COUNTY, GA — The Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA) together with the City of Dunwoody and Perimeter Community Improvement Districts (PCIDs) will cut the ribbon on Tuesday, June 22 at 11 a.m. The ribbon-cutting is held to unveil aesthetic and safety improvements to the Park & Ride as well as shuttle pick-up area at Dunwoody rail station in DeKalb County.

Artist Neka King has been selected by a panel to paint a mural on the walls behind the shuttle pick-up or drop-off area. The panel consists of local art professionals, representatives from MARTA’s public art program Artbound, PCIDs and Spruill Center of the Arts.

Meanwhile, the PCIDs worked together with MARTA’s Office of Architecture & Design to install wayfinding decals and upgraded lighting.

“Dunwoody Station is an essential hub for the Center Perimeter. Our partnership with MARTA made it possible to enliven the space and experience for professionals who use the many last-mile shuttles in the district," said Executive director of the PCIDs, Ann Hanlon. "It creates a better customer experience and reflects an evolution of Perimeter that has been underway for decades and is at its most visible around Dunwoody Station.”

The brief ribbon-cutting ceremony will take place in front of the mural with an opportunity to do interviews afterwards. Those who join the event are required to wear a mask while on MARTA property.

This event will be attended by MARTA General Manager & CEO, Jeffrey Parker; Dunwoody Mayor, Lynn Deutsch; PCIDs directors and board members; artist Neka King; MARTA board members and executive leadership; and Dunwoody City Council members.
