Located in the stunning Sierra Nevada Mountains, Bakersfield is the gateway to countless outdoor activities and recreation. The largest city of Kern County is worth a visit for many reasons. Sports fans and culture and history lovers are enjoying a trip to Bakersfield likewise.
Bakersfield is edging on the famous Sequoia National Forest located at the base of the Greenhorn Mountain Range. The entrance of the Kern Valley is the base of the city and therefore several excursions to the Kern River are being planned and starting out from Bakersfield.
Summer days can be rather hot in summer and therefore it is recommended to spend the hottest hours of the day indoors or in the shade, preferably next to cooling water. Having a hot desert-type climate, temperatures above 100 (F) aren't uncommon.

The Kern River Parkway Trail is popular for bikers and is a park made out of ponds and creeks. Several Concerts are held over here throughout the year.
