Vaccinated? You Could Win the Polk County Vaccine Lottery

If you’d like an extra perk for being vaccinated for COVID-19 or are looking for a little extra incentive to get your shots, Polk County has a new lottery for Iowa residents that you’ll want to register for.

To help promote public health and welfare, Polk County, Iowa has announced a special lottery opportunity for area residents.

From now through Sunday, August 22, 2021 at midnight, Polk County will offer a vaccine lottery to help boost COVID-19 vaccination rates in the county. Individuals are eligible to register after receiving at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine (1 dose of either Pfizer, Moderna or Johnson & Johnson).

Once individuals are fully vaccinated (2 doses of Pfizer/Moderna; 1 dose of Johnson & Johnson), they will receive a cash prize if chosen. All vaccinated residents of Polk County, Iowa, are eligible to register to enter the lottery and win prizes.

Polk County will verify (To confirm) that registered participants (an individual is) are fully vaccinated, (we will) by reviewing registered participants (your) vaccination records (on) through Iowa Immunizations Registry Information System. There is no cost to receive a COVID-19 vaccine and there is no purchase necessary to enter the lottery.

Starting on June 25 cash prizes will be drawn weekly. Each Friday ten $1,000 prizes will be drawn for vaccinated Polk County Residents. Every other Friday one $50,000 prize and one $5,000 scholarship will be drawn in addition to the ten $1,000 prizes.

The schedule for drawings for the $50,000 prize and $5,000 scholarship is June 25, July 9, July 23, August 6, August 20 and a possible bonus drawing on August 27.

Individuals entering the vaccine lottery must be 18 years of age or older. If you are 12 - 17 years old, you are eligible to enter for a scholarship. Individuals can register at immunizepolk.org.

Any Polk County resident who is 18 years of age and older and has received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccination is eligible to register. Only those who are fully vaccinated will be eligible to collect cash prizes. Entrants must be residents of Polk County to participate, but can have received their vaccinations elsewhere.

If you are receiving a two-dose vaccination you can register for the lottery after receiving the first dose. If your name is chosen, you will not be eligible to collect your winnings until after you receive your second does. Polk County employees are eligible, except for elected officials and their immediate family members.

Eligible Polk County residents can enter this vaccination lottery by visiting vaccinelottery.polkcountyiowa.gov and answering several basic questions.

For those unable to enter online, paper registration forms are available at all Polk County senior centers. See a list of senior center locations here. You can also call the COVID-19 call center at 515-323-5221 for assistance registering. The call center is open Monday - Friday from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

When registering for the lottery, (individuals) participants will be required (need) to provide a valid Polk County address, name, date of birth, phone number and email address.

If (your) the required information is not valid, (you) the registrant will be removed from the lottery and ineligible to win. Winners will be chosen by chance. Participants are not required to be present in-person at the time the winners are determined and will be contacted via phone or email.
