Child Overdoses in Southern Ohio

Portsmouth, Ohio

Portsmouth Ohio Police responded to an overdose call involving a child and helped a mom search for her missing addict son.

Just before 6 am, officers responded to Robinson Avenue, in Portsmouth, for an overdosed child who became combative when first responders tried to help. The child refused to give the proper information to determine their identity but police were able to figure out who the boy was with the assistance of Scioto County Children Services and Juvenile Court officials.

The boy was transported to the Southern Ohio Medical Center and then taken into custody on multiple charges after treatment. After booking, the boy was released to his mother at the request of the court.

Officers had difficulty re-securing the house where the child was found because the door could not be locked.

Worried Southern Ohio Mom Seeks Addict Son

A worried mom contacted Portsmouth Police officers at 1 pm and asked for a welfare check on her addicted son. She hasn’t heard from him in some time.

His neighbor said he hadn’t seen him in a month and police heard a cat meowing inside. No one came to the door when officers knocked.

His mom told police she’d pay for the damages if the police made entry into the apartment. There was no one inside. Officers contacted the property owner about the door damage and also checked the jail, hospitals, and other agencies in an attempt to find the man.

So far, they haven’t had any luck locating him.
