EUCLID, OH — The City of Euclid together with the City of Cleveland are inviting all citizens to join the virtual public presentation on the proposed East 185th Streetscape Project scheduled for construction in 2022.
The virtual presentation will be on www.east185streetscape.com from June 1 through July 1, 2021, and the city governments are giving chances for the public to give feedback through June.
This presentation aims to give information and receive feedback on the upcoming East 185th Street Rehabilitation Project. The improvement is planned to be on East 185th Street, from Nottingham Road to Lake Erie.
The proposed street improvements include asphalt resurfacing of roadway pavements, which includes full and partial depth pavement repairs; and curb, sidewalk, curb ramp and drive apron replacements alongside the streetscape improvement limits. The replacements will be based on ADA fulfillment and conditions beyond those limits.
There will be deadlocks to solve safety concerns of turning movement confusion. The deadlocks will be at Locherie Avenue, the fifth leg of the intersection with East 185th Street and Lakeshore Boulevard.
The improvement will include street trees, decorative brick paver amenity strips, curb bump-outs, decorative crosswalks, bike racks, benches and trash bins. Branding features such as gateway entrance signage and pole-mounted decorative metal banners will also be added.
Parking lanes will remain through the corridor in available areas. There will be new signing and pavement markings including bike sharrows within the East 185th Street travel lanes.
Traffic signal replacements will be at Villaview Road, Neff Road and Lakeshore Boulevard, while Monterey Avenue traffic signals will be removed and replaced with a Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacon or RRFB for an enhanced pedestrian crosswalk. There will be also replacement of the existing 10-inch water main with a new 12-inch water main from Mozina Drive to Pawnee Avenue.
The estimated construction cost is $11,590,700 from Ohio Public Works, Euclid and Cleveland Federal City and Utility Funds.
