Free Concerts on the Hill summer schedule

Since the city of Joliet is now fully reopened, the Billie Limacher Bicentennial Park & Theatre will be holding the 47th annual Concerts on the Hill this summer.

All of the concerts and parking are free of charge and they will be held every Thursday evening during the rest of the summer at 6:30 PM Central Standard Time (CST). You can bring chairs or blankets to sit on the hill in order to have a unique view or you can rent a chair for the night for $1. The concessions will be provided by the Joliet American Legion Post 1080 with a cash bar at the patio of Bicentennial Park.

Here is a list of the remaining dates on the schedule.

June 17 - JJC Faculty Jazz Quintet. Founded in 2014, the Joliet Junior College Jazz Quintet gives students the opportunity to further their musical education within the jazz genre.

June 24 - Vocalist Payton Fraser & Little Victory Band. The Little Victory band covers classic rock songs from groups like Led Zeppelin and Heart.

July 1 - Cloggin' Craze & Kidz Clog. This dancing group from New Lenox will bring a folksy style of Irish dancing to the stage.

- Alex Hoffer Band. The Alex Hoffer Band blends blues and contemporary rock with acoustic guitars.

July 8 - 100 Years of Billie sponsored by the Fine Tunes Art Center. The Bicentennial Park will be celebrating their 100-year anniversary with performances from the Fine Tunes Art Center located in Channahon, IL.

July 15 - Latina Night with Creation in Color. The Bicentennial Park will be celebrating Latina night with the melodic tunes of Latino group Creation in Color from Joliet.

July 22 - Rat Pack This Century, SpongeBob JDG Musical Preview, Joliet American Legion Band. There is a 3-for-1 on this free night. Rat Pack This Century covers tunes from Frank Sinatra. Next, the SpongeBob JDG will do a preview scene of their musical that they will perform that weekend. Finally, the event will be closed by the Joliet American Legion Band. The band is volunteer-based and has been going strong since 1946.

July 29 - Polka Night - Eddie Korosa, Jr. and Boys & Girls of IL, Ukelele Moonshiners. The 29th will be dedicated to the musical genre of polka. Get those accordians ready for this double event. Korosa, Jr. has been entertaining crowds all over the world for the past fifty years. He was awarded as "Best Polka Entertainer" in the 2012 Chicago Music Awards. The Ukelele Moonshiners will then put their ukeleles to the test for a banner event.

August 5 - Nashville Night - For Nashville Night, country musicians that have not made the big-time as of yet from Nashville will be on display. You could wind up listening to a future Country Music Awards Artist of the Year for free at Bicentennial Park.

August 12 - Blues Night - National blues recording artist Al Spears will be in concert. You will be able to wipe away all of your blues on Blues Night.

August 19 - Joliet Township HS Symphonic Band, Audley Reid. First, musicians from Joliet West and Joliet Central High Schools form the Joliet Township HS Symphonic Band. The main event will be national recording artist Audley Reid. Reid is a jazz saxophonist from Chicago.

August 26 - Joliet Township HS Orchestra, Joliet American Legion Band. The season finale will first have performances from the Joliet Township High Schools Orchestra. Then, you will be able to hear the Joliet American Legion Band once again if you see them on July 22. The season finale is sponsored by Jitters Coffee House.
