AKRON, OH — The University of Akron has announced that its athletic venues will be operating at full capacity in fall 2021 for the Zips this August.

This new direction will include InfoCision Stadium-Summa Field, FirstEnergy Stadium and James A. Rhodes Arena.

The university will start its 2021 football season at Auburn on September 4 at 7 p.m. before the home opener on Saturday, September 11, versus Temple.

Kickoff against the Owls is set for 3:30 p.m. Sports enthusiasts can also catch the game on ESPN+.

Akron has released season ticket plans for the 2021 season, including a ticket to all six home games and a parking pass, starting at only $60 each.

To purchase a ticket, contact 888-99-AKRON (25766) or see Cornelia S. Chima Athletics Ticket Office at InfoCision Stadium-Summa Field during their business hours, Monday through Friday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The university is adjusting its reopening policies in accordance with the latest CDC and State COVID-19 guidance. In-person meetings and gatherings are allowed in the campus area.

Vaccinated students and members are no longer required to wear face masks and practice social distancing, while unvaccinated students and members are still required to wear face masks in the campus areas.

Nearly 5.4 million Ohioans had received at least one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, and nearly 4.8 million people, or 41% of the population, had been completely vaccinated.

Cincinnati Enquirer reported last week that 503 COVID patients were being treated in Ohio hospitals. It is the lowest number since the Ohio Hospital Association began collecting data in March 2020.
