Search for three burglary suspects continues in South LA

At 5 am on Tuesday police responded to a report of an apartment burglary in South Los Angeles.

The address was reported as S Western Ave & W 51st St, potentially at 1726 W 50th St.

After arriving on the scene, police searched for the burglary suspect after a brief foot pursuit.

At 6:33 am, Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) officers had one suspect in sight during the chase.

One male suspect attempted to enter a house and a woman armed with a bat chased him away, according to police.

The suspect then jumped fences and tried to flee down several alleyways a la popular TV show Cops.

Police called on a K-9 unit to assist with the search.

In the sky, helicopter units monitored the suspects’ movements.

On a surveillance video, two of the suspects were seen leaving the premises they burglarized, according to an eyewitness who saw the video.

According to the Los Angeles Police Department, Los Angeles saw 781 burglaries from May 16 to June 12 of this year. There were 856 in the previous month, 869 burglaries March to April, and 5,338 burglaries in the city of los angeles year to date. This is actually lower than 2020, which at this point last year had 6497 burglaries.

According to the Los Angeles Times, LAPD now has fewer police officers compared to 2020.
