As you can see in the photo above, this place takes Covid-19 precautions by offering these cute little outdoor seating spaces. If you're comfortable with eating inside the cafe, they have a modern and bright seating area that's perfect for a social hangout with friends. Or you can get your food to-go.

Blank Slate is a charming neighborhood cafe with two locations, one in Midtown and one in NoMad (North of Madison Square Park), New York City.

This spot is a go-to for the locals, whether it is for coffee and breakfast in the morning or a glass of wine or beer in the afternoon.

Gourmet meals

Their menu can be described as an assortment of gourmet breakfast and lunch options.

You'll get everything from Garbanzo Green, a salad with shredded kale, chickpeas, goat cheese, seasonal squash, caramelized onions, dried cranberries, spiced pepitas, and lemon tahini, to what they call Wild Mushroom Toast with avocado pesto, arugula, pepitas on sourdough.

Throughout the day they also serve small plates such as shishito peppers, truffled popcorn, or deviled eggs.

A popular dessert option they have here is S'mores Dip with graham crackers. If you're a sweet tooth, this will be your favorite food item from here. They also make a cookie skillet, which is so, so good.

If you're a vegetarian or vegan this place is a must-visit. A lot of the items on their menu are either vegetarian or vegan, and you can also get gluten-free options.

At Blank Slate, they want everyone, no matter their food allergies or food preferences, to be able to come here for a meal made with fresh ingredients.

Cozy and warm

You feel welcome at this New York City neighborhood cafe. It is a casual setting where you order at the counter, and once the food and drinks are prepared the staff will bring them to your spot.

The interior design is modern and stylish but it feels cozy and warm at the same time. The design itself increases the homey feeling you get by entering here and being welcomed by their friendly staff at Blank Slate. It is the husband and wife Zach Israel and Ashley Jaffe that runs this spot, and they truly celebrate culinary excellence and amazing service.

If you're looking for a casual spot to grab a meal with friends in New York City, this is it.

You'll find Blank Slate in NoMad at 121 Madison Avenue #5, New York, NY 10016, and in Midtown at 941 2nd Avenue, New York, NY 10022.
