Columbus authorities say a suspect who is accused of several shootings that took place in the weekend targeted white men in all his attacks.

The victims are from Alabama and Georgia and the suspect is accused of staging three separate assaults. The attacks took place in Columbus, Georgia, and in Phenix City, Alabama, as The Blaze reports.

All the people who got injured during the weekend are expected to make a full recovery.

How did it all happen?

Based on a report by the Associated Press, a detective stated on Monday that the suspect, 39-year-old black male Justin Tyran Roberts, admitted at a preliminary hearing that all the attacks were racially motivated.

Roberts reportedly said that he chose white men for all the shootings because “white men had picked on him and wronged him for all his life.”

“Basically, throughout his life, specifically white males had taken from him, and also what he described as military-looking white males had taken from him,” Columbus Detective Brandon Lockhart stated.

According to Columbus Police Chief Freddie Blackmon, there is no proof that the suspect knew any of the victims.

“I had to have him,” Roberts also allegedly said about one of the victims, as noted in a Fox News report on Tuesday. The news outlet went on to reveal that judge Julius Hunter will send Roberts' case to Muscogee Superior Court.

Public defender Robin King has requested a mental health evaluation for Roberts and claimed that the suspect was undergoing “delusions.”

“The officer's testimony has demonstrated that Mr. Roberts is having delusions and a disconnect from reality,” King reportedly told the Columbus judge.
