Miami-Dade and Broward County Public Schools will provide free meals to students during the summer break

(MIAMI) Citing food security issues, Miami-Dade Public Schools announced it would provide free meals to students during the summer break. According to Feeding America, 1 in 6 children in Florida faced hunger in 2020. Miami-Dade County Public Schools said in a statement, "food insecurity is a serious concern in our community" and reinstated their support for students and their families." The free meals will be available to students 18 and younger. They will just need to walk into campus to pick up a grab-and-go breakfast or lunch. Free breakfast and lunch meals will also be provided to students attending summer school and district-affiliated campuses and programs in the schools.

In Broward County, public schools will continue to offer free curbside 'Grab-and-Go Summer Meals' for all children in the community 18 years of age or younger. For more information on food distribution locations, dates and times, go to browardschools.com/food-service.
