Teen suspect shot during carjacking attempt in Oakland – 2 others shot within hours

(OAKLAND, Calif.) A 16-year-old suspect was shot by the driver she was allegedly attempting to carjack Monday night – one of three people injured during seperate shootings in Oakland within a two-hour span, East Bay Times reports.

Police say the suspect, armed with a stun gun, and another juvenile attempted to carjack a woman’s Porsche SUV in the parking lot of the Value Inn on West ManArthur Blvd. across from Mosswood Park at approximately 11:33 p.m. Monday night.

The woman opened fire on the two suspects, striking the suspect armed with a stun gun. She fled from the scene in another vehicle before officers arrived.

The suspect is in critical but stable condition as of Tuesday. Investigators are still searching for the other juvenile.

The second shooting occurred at approximately 11:41 p.m. near Lake Merritt in the 1400 block of Second Ave. when a 46-year-old man was confronted by a gunman on a bicycle who demanded his money and cellphone.

The suspect shot the man in his upper torso after he refused to comply and fled from the scene before police arrived. The man is in critical condition.

The third shooting happened at 1:27 a.m. Tuesday morning when a 23-year-old man was shot in the arm while getting food at a taco truck.

The victim said that he overheard an argument happening behind him and heard gunfire. He then got a ride to a nearby hospital. His condition has been reported as stable. Police have no suspects at this time and no arrests have been made.
