ATLANTA, GA — Roswell High School has announced Dr. Stanton Usher as their new chorus teacher.

“Dr. Usher will be a great asset to our Fine Arts program, and we look forward to watching students develop their talents under his leadership,” said Principal Dr. Robert Shaw. “We’re very excited to welcome him to Roswell High School.”

Usher joins Roswell High School (RHS) from Cobb County Schools, where he has taught chorus since 2018. He is also the director of the Atlanta Young Singers of Callanwolde. Previously, Usher worked as an Arts Integration Specialist (K-8) in Tucson, Arizona, taught chorus, Advanced Placement Music Theory, and music in Henry County Schools, and conducted various ensembles.

“It is with great anticipation and excitement that I join the learning community at Roswell High School,” said Usher. “I am looking forward to fostering critical and creative thinking, artistic expression and community engagement through innovative arts programming all while making beautiful music. I am looking forward to hard work, fun and making forever memories in the RHS Fine Arts Department.”

Usher was named Outstanding Choral Director of the Year in 2011 and Teacher of the Year in 2010-11. In addition, he has coached his students to Region and State Literary Championships and numerous first-place and championship in music festivals.

Usher holds a Bachelor of Science in Music Education from Paine College, a Master of Music Education from Georgia State University, a Doctor of Music in Sacred Music from Covington Theological Seminary, and a Doctor of Musical Arts in Choral Conducting from the University of Arizona.
