44-year-old Correy Termaine Brown has been convicted in a murder case that occurred in 2018. The judge has sentenced him to 42 years in prison for the crime.
The trial went on for a week, during which the jury found the accused guilty. The final verdict was declared on 11 June 2021.
The law enforcement department had gathered surveillance video, convict's phone records, and eyewitness descriptions as evidence to present for the case. But, according to the Fifth Circuit Solicitor, the accused statement to the police was not in coherence with the evidence gathered by them.
The incident and the arrest
South Carolina law enforcement department responded to a vehicle collision report on 29 December 2018.
Upon arriving on the accident spot, police discovered Donald Young dead inside of his car. His vehicle had crashed on Meeting House and Clarkson roads.
It was revealed during the autopsy process that the victim had sustained a gunshot injury to the upper body prior to the accident.
According to the report, Brown shot the victim in the neck while the victim was driving his car.
Correy Brown was later arrested near the 400 block in Percival Road on 31 December 2018 in connection with the said murder. He was then charged with the murder of his acquaintance Donald Antonio Young.
RCSD said the conflict was caused due to an argument between acquaintances. The victim, Donald Young, was 37 years old when the unfortunate incident took place.
It took more than one year for the victim's family to get justice in the murder case.
