CUYAHOGA, CLEVELAND, OH — The Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad has announced that public train rides with eased COVID-19 protocols will commence June 16.

“We look forward to returning to some normalcy at the railroad after this challenging year,” said Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad (CVSR) President and CEO Joe Mazur. “With the new protocols moving forward, we can offer more availability to our guests.”

Since returning to the rails on May 1, CVSR excursions have followed more stringent safety practices and procedures, including more frequent sanitation, wearing masks, implementing physical distancing, and operating trains at no more than 50% capacity to ensure employee, volunteer, and guest safety.

Beginning June 16, all CVSR train rides and excursions will no longer require physical separation and will operate at full capacity. However, masks will be required onboard the train and at all stations unless visitors are eating or drinking.

CVSR is subject to Transportation Security Administration (TSA) and Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) laws, which require guests, volunteers, and staff to wear masks on the train and at any of its facilities until further notice.

National Park Scenic rides run from Wednesday through Sunday. Departures are made from the Akron Northside Depot, the Independence Rockside Depot, and the Peninsula Depot.

CVSR will now offer additional ticket availability for National Park Scenic trips due to the loosened restrictions. CVSR will debut a new round-trip ticket option that will take passengers through Cuyahoga Valley National Park in three and a half hours. Passengers can now purchase a round-trip ticket in addition to the previously available all-day pass.

June and July tickets are now on sale. August tickets and additional June and July tickets will go on sale to CVSR members on June 8 and to the general public on June 11. Tickets are available exclusively online at cvsr.org.
