Tea at the Ginger Room in AlpharettaMalika Bowling (roamilicious.com)

Heads up - Alpharetta has the cutest new tea room. And it is in the oldest building in Alpharetta! You must check out The Ginger Room if you enjoy high tea or afternoon tea!

The space is the result of couple, Angela Avery and Karl Walbrook, meeting and their love of British tea rooms. Karl is from across the pond and grew up drinking tea regularly. After long suffereing digestive issues, Angela was cured by a ginger based concoction Karl whipped up and their first company, Ginger Yums, was born. Not stopping there, they decided to open up a tea room, based on their many visits to fancy tea rooms internationally. With a focus on ginger, you will find ginger snacks and many ginger forward teas.

Owners Angela and Karl (above right) put their heart and soul into this endeavour, spending many late nights putting their mark on The Ginger Room - Angela deocorated it by herself. If you are an instagram addict, make sure to check out their Instagram wall in their private room (ask and if it isn't occupied staff will be more than happy to let you snap a pic). Besides the private room, the main room has about 10 small tables all with lots of beautiful daylight.

On a recent visit there were four pages worth of teas to choose from, well over 30, so if you pride yourself on being a tea lover, you'll have to make many return visits to the Ginger Room to work your way through the diverse menu. Some highlights include Fort Mason Fancy (Darjeeling), Lemon Meringue, and Gin and Juniper (non-alcoholic) but you could have fooled me with that gin flavor. Plus, Angela keeps a regular stash of off menu teas, just ask her to pick one for you.

Afternoon tea at The Ginger Room in AlpharettaMalika Bowling (roamilicious.com)

Besides ginger, Angela loves to focus on local businesses with some of the snacks available at high tea being gourmet pimento cheese from Suga’s, macarons from Lady Belle Macarons, cupcakes from Nana’s House. I especially enjoyed the For Mason Fancy (Darjeeling) and the housemate Bakewell tarts!! 🍮
