Five activities by Gwinnett County Public Library to enjoy this week

ATLANTA, GA — Gwinnett County Public Library has a summer reading challenge. But that is not the only event that the library has got for the season. Gwinnett County Public Library has several events that run throughout the week for reading enthusiasts and the general public.

1. Makers & Shakers; Furry Folktales Summer Camp

This virtual summer camp is a week-long event for kids in grades K-5 from June 12 to June 19. The virtual summer camp will dive deeper into all things Tales and Tails and learn about animals from around the world.

2. Graves Park Splash Pad Storytime!

If indoor activity bores you and your kid, join the library staff for some fun storytime and sing along in the park. The library’s mobile book bus will be present on June 16 from 10 a.m. – 10.25 a.m. at Splash Pad in Graves Park.

3. Cozy Mystery Book Club

The GCPL also provided activities for seniors or adults to enjoy. Join the book club from home on the third Thursday every month to discuss the selected Mystery Series book. The Cozy Mystery Book Club on June 17 will discuss a book by Darynda Jones titled A Bad Day for Sunshine. 4. Storytime at Briscoe Park!

Another outdoor storytime in the park to enjoy with your family, where toddlers and preschoolers can listen to tall tales, fairy tales, and legends.

The activity will follow the health and safety protocol, so everyone is required to wear masks. The storytime will be held at the pavilion in T J Briscoe Park in Snellville at 12.30 p.m.

5. The Story of Juneteenth

On June 19, this is an interactive event for teenagers to educate them about the historic date. The activity will be held virtually, and teens can submit questions about the commemoration via http://bit.ly/storyofJuneteenth.

Teens that have completed this activity will be entered into a drawing for a free signed book by a Black author.
