Maryland is below 1% for positive cases. In a tweet, Montgomery County Executive Marc Ehlrich says that masks are no longer required in Montgomery County government buildings. The Department of Permitting is resuming in-person services.

Liquor stores are resuming full hours including Sundays.

On Monday eight more library branches are opening in addition to the ones that opened on June 1st. The remaining library branches, except for the Germantown library will reopen on July 6th. Germantown is undergoing renovations.

Elrich reminds Montgomery County that individual businesses and establishments can still require customers and visitors to wear their masks and that they’ll have to abide by the rules per each establishment.

After more than 15 months of the pandemic, Gaithersburg enters Phase 3 of their reopening plan. In a press release, the City of Gaithersburg shared its reopening plan. Masks will no longer be required indoors and outdoors. However, mask-wearing and physical distancing are still strongly encouraged, especially for those who are not vaccinated.

Many city buildings and organizations will once again open their doors to the public. Appointments are recommended, but not required. There will be a phased-in opening as life resumes post-pandemic.

Phase 3 for the City of Gaithersburg include a “Resume to ‘normal’ operations”:

• Open to the Public. Walk-in services are available. Social distancing is required.

• All services may not be restored simultaneously at the start of the phase

• Virtual meetings continue

• Health and safety protocols will be determined by Health Department guidelines

• Facility hours may be limited due to staffing and operational considerations

• No masks required except as mandated by the Maryland Department of Health and by CDC guidelines

While things continue to open, all facilities are not fully opening at the same time. Gaithersburg is following a phased-in approach. Many of the facilities will have a modified opening plan and restrictions will continue to ease as the City continues to take its reopening cues from the Maryland and Montgomery County Health Departments and the CDC.

Large groups can once again gather and use parks, fields, and pavilions, including rentals with continued physical distancing.

Gaithersburg Recreation

For those participating in sports in the City of Gaithersburg phase 3 stipulates “participants and spectators may remove masks outdoors. Unvaccinated people are encouraged to wear masks outdoors if physical distancing is not possible. Everyone must wear masks for all indoor sports (guidance as of June 1, 2021).”

Special events, parades, and festivities

For those looking for in-person special events, parades, and festivities as of July 1st the following will be included with more added to the calendar as the year progresses: July 4th festivities (reduced programming), Labor Day Celebration (still to be determined), Oktoberfest in the Kentlands on October 10, Halloween, Holiday Activities & Winter Lights. Continue to check the City of Gaithersburg website for updates.

Activity Center at Bohrer Park

The Activity Center at Bohrer Park will continue with modified operating hours and reservations are allowed based on capacity restrictions. The Fitness Zone is open, however, that mask requirements may still be in place during use of the Activity Center in its capacity as a Summer Camp facility

The Case Community Center

The Casey Community center will continue with virtual communication with its customers via phone, email, and online services. There will be limited weekend rentals beginning July 17th, but weekday rentals will not begin until late August. Full operation of the community center will resume on September 7, 2021.

Arts Barn

The Arts Barn will be open for camps only through August 16, 2021. Fall 2021 classes will be a hybrid of virtual and in-person. Performances will be limited with a ticket with the option of viewing it via streaming. The Art Gallery is open by appointment. New hours for the Arts Barn will begin on August 17, 2021.
