On Saturday morning, a person lost their life following a hit-and-run accident on Interstate 17 near Camelback Road.
The incident took place at around 1:20 a.m. on Interstate 17 near Camelback Road. As per the Arizona Department of Public Safety, one of the involved drivers fled the scene. Authorities confirmed the death of one person as a result of the crash.
The cause and circumstances that have led to the crash remain unknown at this time. The accident resulted in the closure of the southbound lanes of the I-17, but they reopened the area to traffic at about 7:00 a.m. Authorities will release the identity of the deceased after notifying the next of kin.
The crash remains under review.
