FulcoLibrary starts to reopen in-person services on June 1, 2021

FULTON COUNTY, GA — Fulton County Library System finally announced that it reopens all 32 branches libraries and the Auburn Avenue Research Library on African American Culture and History starting on June 1, 2021.

This is the second phase of the library's reopening plan will open full-time for hands-on services. The services will be available on Mondays and Tuesdays from 10:00 AM to 8:00 PM, and Wednesdays to Saturdays from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Computers at the library will be available for all patrons for one hour per day, six days a week.

Reminders to all patrons of some important changes by the library that include:

  1. No more Curbside Services
  2. Meeting, conferenc, and study rooms are still closed
  3. According to CDC guidelines, unvaccinated patrons or not yet fully take the shots are asked to wear masks in Fulton County Library. Meanwhile, patrons who are fully vaccinated and have been two weeks after the final vaccine dose may not wear a mask in the facilities
  4. Self-serve options will still be available and are recommended for in-branch services like self-checkout machines for paying fines and fees

Along with the reopening, FulcoLibrary is about to launch its annual Summer Reading Program with the theme 'Tails and Tales' starting this June 1, 2021. There will be outdoor storytime activities (mask and social distancing are required), take-home activities and streaming storytimes. The Summer Reading Program will be available at Bearstack application for patrons' mobile devices.

"We have had a wonderful time welcoming patrons back inside the library over the last four weeks and look forward to making this opening full time,” said Library Director, Gayle Holloman. "Seeing adults and children alike browsing the shelves and discovering new books to read, in person, has been as exciting for us, as it has been to our guests. As things continue to improve with the pandemic numbers, we hope to add even more services in the coming months. For now, we are thrilled to have the communities we serve back inside for the summer.”
