On the sunny day, you can see the beautiful Seattle skyline from Creosote Park Bench on Bill Point at Bainbridge Island.

Creosote was a community along Eagle Harbor in this island, now it's part of Pritchard Park.

This site was purchase by the City of Bainbridge as the Pritchard Park in early 2006 through the partnership with Bainbridge Island Land Trust, Bainbridge Island Metropolitan Park and Recreation District, the Suquamish Tribe, the Bainbridge Island Japanese American Community, and the Trust for Public Land.

Historically, this site was owned by the Wyckoff company. It had plant in this area to treat wood using creosote to prevent rot. Creosote are kind of carbonaceous chemicals, which are hazardous to human body and environments. It's estimated that there are still over 600,000 gallons of creosote still remain in the ground at the site.

This site is undergoing federal government's superfund cleanup. Hopefully the park will be fully opened to public soon.
