Carrollton class of 2021 earns $23 million worth of college scholarships

CARROLLTON, GA — Carrollton High School 2021 graduates have received $23 million in scholarships from colleges and universities.

In addition, the HOPE/Zell Miller Scholarship also awarded an additional $1.9 million to more than 200 Carrollton High School honor graduates this year.

The majority of the award came from educational institutions, but private organizations, individuals, and nonprofit entities were also offered.

Many students earned awards for their pandemic success. However, four graduates, Damean Dominguez, Escarlett Hernandez Rodriguez, Contellis Reese, and Shania Scarbrough, stood out as they were each given a $10,000 award from the REACH Scholarship program.

Carrollton High School emphasizes academics, arts, and athletics and has produced various scholarships highlighting the three main focuses.

Kate Albertus received a $600,000 offer and will continue her education at the Georgia Institute of Technology, and Caitlann and Christen Arant received $446,500 each. They are both going to Mercer University.

Besides academics scholarships, Carrollton also offers an athletic scholarship to several students.

Khristian Zachary, a Trojan football standout, was offered a total value of $2.3 million and accepted the scholarship from the University of Georgia. At the same time, De’Mauri Flournoy received $2 million in basketball scholarships and will join the Vanderbilt University.

Trojan track standout Grant Briscoe received $1.3 million and will attend the University of Georgia. Loralie Cowart earned $853,076 in golf scholarship, and Chaz Chambliss accepted a $95,000 scholarship in football.

These students are not just top in academics or athletic performers in CHS. According to CHS Principal Ian Lyle, they are also multi-talented students involving in many school activities. He believed that these students would continue to make Carrollton High School proud.
