A High Point school principal had a wonderful surprise in store for the graduation ceremony this year. He’s hit some serious notes on Sunday, as Fox News reports.

Principal Marcus Gause made all graduating seniors smile and be more positive with a rendition of Whitney Houston’s “I Will Always Love You.”

The amazing ceremony took place at T. Wingate Andrews High School in High Point, North Carolina.

What are the details?

The graduates all started applauding and cheering for their principal when he began singing the vocally challenging song.

The performance was filmed and posted on social media by school board member Winston McGregor.

Gause shared with ABC News that he was nervous while performing the song precisely because it had been sung by musical icons like Whitney Houston and Dolly Parton.

The decisive point was that “the lyrics were really what I was trying to portray to my students.”

And it was certainly appreciated by the graduates. One of them said he “would never forget” the way Gause had sung to his students.

“He is a big part of why I am who I am today,” he said. The touching lyrics of the song showed the students there is always a reason to hope and you can always reach your dreams if you only try hard enough and believe in yourself.
“One of the things that the pandemic has really taught us is that we need more love. The students know that we love and care for them,” the High Point principal added for the media outlets.
