Man charged in fatal shooting at Utica barbershop

UTICA, N.Y. – A suspect has been charged in the shooting death of 26-year-old Lemeke Pittman, who was killed in a Utica barbershop about a month ago. Police were called to the 1600 block of Seymour Avenue around 12:45 p.m. on May 7 after 21-year-old Jaleak Scarborough allegedly went inside the barbershop and shot Pittman. Read more

UTICA, N.Y. -- There's a sad and tragic scene unraveling outside the window of Jerry Dischiavo's Oneida Square business. "Been here 40 years, I haven't seen anything like it," says Dischiavo. Outside his door, a homeless woman sleeps. Around the corner, on Park Ave., three men lean up against a building, about ready to fall over, perhaps under the influence of drugs, or, in a mental health crisis. Getting Off of ANY Drug or Alcohol, is easier said than done....... Addictions of ALL kinds are hard to break, including food, nail-biting, sex, the internet, etc.... Good luck and God Bless addicts of all kinds and TRY not to judge them......... 🙏

So many heroine addicts are out on the streets they have to want the help to get clean there are rehabs open they refuse to get the help because they are out there shooting up so sad so many young kids out here on drugs to bad the family members can’t get a court order to get them clean

BRANTINGHAM - Richard A. LaBuz, Sr., 79, died early Tuesday morning, June 8th at his home. Richard was born on December 28, 1941 in Utica the son of the late Joseph and Ruth (Wishart) LaBuz. He attended Rome Free Academy and left school early and joined the U.S. Marine Corps. He married Ellen M. Parry on March 3, 1962 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Utica. Richard and Ellen made their home in the Brantingham area where they owned and operated a small farm, and were the owners of a bed and breakfast in Lyons Falls from 1983 until 2003. Ellen died on February 26, 2010. Read more
