Reported gun battle leaves 2 men injured in East Oakland

(OAKLAND, Calif.) Two men were found suffering from gunshot wounds in East Oakland Friday night, East Bay Times reports.

The shooting occurred at approximately 8:21 p.m. in the 1900 block of 73rd Avenue after police received reports that two groups of men were involved in a gunfight on the street.

The two men shot, ages 19 and 48, were hit by stray bullets in the area. Both men are in stable condition as of Saturday morning, according to authorities.

ShotSpotter alerts indicated that over 20 rounds were fired during the shooting with several rounds striking vehicles parked in the area. The shooters fled from the scene in vehicles before police arrived.

It is unknown if the two men knew each other. A motive for the shooting has not been determined and no arrests have been made.

No other injuries were reported at the time of the incident.

A $10,000 reward is being offered for any additional information leading to the arrest of the shooters.
