Georgia is a state with a diverse landscape of beaches, mountains, and cities, drawing tourists from across the country and abroad. In addition, Georgia features several historic sites, including battlefields and monuments from the Civil War.

However, no state (regardless of how much you love it) is perfect; Georgia is no exception. In this article, we'll review the best and worst of living in Georgia.

Here are the pros you will enjoy:

1. Better economy

Georgia has a better economy than most other states. There are many Fortune 500 companies headquartered or with extensive facilities in Georgia because the state provides a good business climate. As a result, Georgia is usually among the states that create a more significant number of new jobs and is one of the fastest-growing states in the US.

2. Georgia has excellent beaches and mountains.

Georgia's Atlantic coast is home to many beaches and a National Seashore. In addition, you might be surprised to learn that it also has high, beautiful peaks in the north of Georgia, which offer cool nights and warm days during the summer (not as hot as Georgia's flatlands).

Here are the cons that may disappoint you about Georgia:

1. The combined overall state and local tax burden in Georgia is higher than in most other states

It was derived from information provided by the Council for Community and Economic Research. When looking for a new state to move to, some people do not consider the tax rates. Others only view the personal state income tax rate and the sales tax. For example, suppose you are considering a move to Georgia. It would be helpful if you think about how sales, individual income, property taxes, gas, alcohol, cell phone, estate, gift, and other taxes and fees would differ from the state where you currently live.

2. The quality of healthcare in Georgia is lower than in most other states

A healthcare research and quality organization in the United States of America says so. Think about how important it is to you to have access to high-quality healthcare. Therefore, you need to check the hospital ratings and other facilities in the town or city you're considering moving to. Even in states with lower overall ratings, there are almost always higher-rated facilities.

Bonus: Here are fun trivia about Georgia:

  1. Georgia was named for King George II of England.
  2. Stone Mountain near Atlanta is one of the enormous single masses of exposed granite in the world.
  3. Georgia is the nation's number one producer of the three Ps–peanuts, pecans, and peaches.
  4. At the Hawkinsville Civitan Club's Annual Shoot the Bull Barbecue Championship, people from all over Georgia and surrounding states flock to this small south Georgia town to enter their tasty barbecue concoctions in this famous cook-off. The funds raised from this event benefit the Civitan International Research Center and its work toward a cure for Down's syndrome and other developmental disabilities.
  5. Each year Georgia serves as a host to the International Poultry Trade Show, the largest poultry convention in the world.
  6. The oldest portable steam engine in the United States is on display at Historic Railroad Shops in Savannah.
  7. Known as the sweetest onion globally, the Vidalia onion can only be grown in the fields around Vidalia and Glennville.
  8. Georgia is the largest state east of the Mississippi River.
  9. Georgia's population in 1776 was around 40,000.
  10. Cordele claims to be the watermelon capital of the world.
