A Milwaukee woman was reportedly firmly convinced that her husband attempted to poison her by using chicken wings, so she didn’t hesitate to seek revenge. What did she do? After a spicy argument, she went right ahead and used fire to settle the issue.

How did it all happen?

Tuhonsty Marie Smith, 29, allegedly lighted the fire in the early hours of June 3, while her husband was asleep in their home. The two live in the Enderis Park neighborhood of Milwaukee.

As soon as he was jolted wide awake Henry Williams realized what was happening to him. He immediately tried to put out the fire. He rushed out of bed and went straight to the bedroom where his 3-month-old daughter was sleeping.

He grabbed the baby and ran out of the house at top speed.

The husband informed the officials that Smith was the only other person inside their house when the fire started, as The Blaze reports.

He also said that his wife had been acting strangely for the last four months, according to the New York Post. On June 2, the woman accused her husband of adding poison to her chicken wings.

On that same day, the couple had a heated argument and Williams told his wife he was going to leave her and move out of their home.

Seeing their relationship couldn’t be saved, the woman allegedly didn’t hesitate to start the fire. The police say that around 4 a.m. Smith filled a cup with lighter fluid and determinedly set to work. She poured the liquid on her husband and what followed is too terrible to imagine.

“Because I've known Henry since he was a kid, just heartbroken for him. The house is just a thing and that's why you have insurance but as long as he's going to be ok, that's my main concern,” Denise Wilson, the property owner where the couple lived and long-time family friend of Williams, told WDJT-TV.

“I'm just glad he was able to get the baby out and that he's going to be ok. It'll be a long road to recovery with his burns but ultimately he'll be ok,” she added.

Smith allegedly told the officers that she has mental issues and took prescription medication at around 2 a.m. on the night of the fire. She claims she did not intend to harm her husband.

The woman will appear in court after her competency evaluation is complete related to the Milwaukee incident.
