(MONTPELIER, Vt.) On Saturday and Sunday, Vermont is holding its annual Vermont Days Weekend to celebrate the start of the summer and provide an opportunity to explore the state’s fishing, parks and historic culture.

As Vermont is still working towards vaccinating 80% of its residents with one dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, the state is also holding walk-up clinics at various parks. Once the state reaches this vaccination threshold, Gov. Phil Scott will remove all pandemic-related restrictions and fully reopen Vermont. The governor said Thursday that the state has to vaccinate about 2,000 more people to reach the goal.

According to Vermont State Parks, day-use areas and all state-owned historic sites will be open at no charge during the weekend event.

Saturday is also Summer Free Fishing Day when fishing licenses are not required and the start of Vermont’s bass fishing season.

Montpelier’s Vermont History Museum is also offering free admission to everyone who comes to visit on Saturday.

“Vermont Days is a great opportunity to get out and explore the state, especially this year when we are all looking forward to spending time with friends and family again,” said Vermont Department of Tourism and Marketing Commissioner Heather Pelham. “We hope those Vermonters who have yet to get vaccinated, will consider visiting a pop-clinic during their outdoor adventures this weekend.”
