Picture this travel experience.

You show up at the airport on Sunday morning, two hours before your domestic flight.

You are met with a three-hour line to see an agent.

By the time you reach the front of the line, you have already missed your flight. The agent then informs you that there are no more flights that day.

You rebook a flight for Monday only to have that flight canceled.

You are forced to rebook at a different airport.

The airline refuses to provide anything for the inconvenience: no hotel or food vouchers.

This was the experience Laura Ramirez went through to travel home to New York from Miami this past weekend.

LAX Picking up Again

With Los Angeles quickly returning to normal, travel in and out of LAX has started to pick up.

Last month was LAX’s busiest month of 2021

It’s only going to busier from here.

Some airlines are not ready to handle the surge of fliers.

There is also the problem of unruly passengers.

An uptick of Unruly Passengers

The number of unruly passengers has been skyrocketing.

The Federal Aviation Administration has reported 2,500 in-flight passenger incidents. That is a more than 100% increase from the last two years.

Incidents range from refusing to wear a mask to physical violence.

On May 30th, a flight attendant lost two teach after being assaulted by a passenger

On June 4th, a man was arrested for punching several passengers and slapping the hand of an off-duty police officer

Those are just two of the numerous violent encounters that have happened on flights this year.

For whatever reason, these incidents seem to be happening more frequently.

My Thoughts

I am not trying to discourage anyone from flying.

Los Angeles has been couped up inside long enough.

But, it may be a good idea to arrive at the airport a little early. Also, be ready for some minor irritations.

And please be kind. We have had enough violent flying incidents. Don’t add to the problem.
