ATLANTA — The City of Atlanta has moved to phase 4 of reopening on June 9, with several procedural changes.

According to the city’s COVID-19 procedures, non-mission-critical employees can resume their operations under enhanced health and safety protocols.

The city’s public facilities are still closed to the public.

The administration has made changes in procedures aimed to accommodate health and safety provisions, as listed below:

- Mask-wearing is mandatory in city facilities for vaccinated and unvaccinated people

- Public entrance will be required to install a temperature screening device

- Employees and members entering city offices will undergo screenings for COVID-19 symptoms and exposures

- All city facilities to provide hand sanitizer

- Water fountains are no longer used

- City facilities will boost clean-up procedures

- Touchless soap dispensers available at restrooms

- The purchase of new janitorial cleaning and disinfecting equipment, such as fogging device to sanitize the entire place

- Stricter cleaning procedures for the security bins at the security point entrances

- Rigorous air system to boost ventilation and airflow

Front line staff will work onsite, as usual, to make sure all health procedures are implemented and all public services run as required.

The city’s non-essential employees are expected to return to government buildings this month, and those buildings can reopen next July, said City Council Staff Director Theo Pace. However, it is still a tentative target.

Besides Atlanta, New York City has also entered phase 4 of reopening in May with several restrictions like mask-wearing in public places.
