It's no secret that Dosie Dough has won the hearts of people living in Lititz, PA. It's where you go to get your morning coffee or breakfast sandwich. The warm and cozy cafe is located right in the heart of downtown on South Broad Street. It is nicely tucked in between a local olive oil shop and a music store. You can't miss the cafe when coming into town from Lancaster.
Coffee and baked goods
The history of Dosie Dough goes back to the late 1980s. Marsha Baron began Dosie Dough as a stand at the Shillington Farmers Market in 1988 where they specialized in European-style bread that is hard to find in PA, as well as homemade baked goods.
People started to notice the stand serving these European specialties, and it became quite popular among visitors at the Farmers Market. Over time the owners realized they needed more space, and in 1996 they opened their Lititz location.
The mission is to pair baked goods and coffee perfectly. In which, they do an excellent job.
The coffee at Dosie Dough is superb, and pairing it with one of their bagels makes you feel you're eating a bite from a local bagel stand in the streets of New York City.
In 2000, the Lititz location became too small for all their baked goods, and they were ready to expand, once again. Dosie Dough opened a second cafe in Wyomissing, and today, this is their largest store. At this location, they have both indoor and outdoor seating.
Family business
Dosie Dough is a local family-owned business. They have a passion for serving great food and for being a community gathering spot.
Their cafe on South Broad Street is a space where the atmosphere feels welcoming, and you don't have to be a local to feel included here. If you're new to Lititz, Dosie Dough is a perfect place to go to get to know people and to figure out know what's happening in town.
Although they only have a small outside seating area, they keep busy, and during the morning hours, there's usually a line. It is worth the wait, though.
A local breakfast favorite is their everything bagel, filled with bacon, egg, and cheese.
In addition to their signature organic Dosie Dough blend coffees and fresh bagels, they still serve a large variety of European-style bread and homemade baked goods and donuts daily. If you feel like giving yourself a treat, go for their chocolate-dipped almond horns. Or their black bean brownie. They are both outstanding.
