(ATLANTA, Ga.) The art scene in Atlanta is vastly expanding and finding new ways to connect with those within the city. The city’s most recent art company, Arts & entertainment Atlanta (A&E Atlanta) is hosting its second digital exhibit.
Inspired by the city’s hip-hop duo Outkast, the showcase, titled “The South Got Something to Say,” features work by 10 Atlanta-based artists. The work will be displayed throughout the downtown area on four A&E digital signs.
The digital signs will be located at Peachtree Center, 101 Marietta, Reverb by Hard Rock Hotel and the 75 MLK St SW Garage.
The exhibit’s title is taken from the legendary speech Andre 3000 gave at the 1995 Source Awards and highlights local artists like Sheila Pree Bright, Jurell Cayetano, Alfred Conteh and Ariel Dannielle to name a few.
This phrase issued a proclamation about the rising impact of Atlanta as a city. Since that time, the city has risen as an influential force in music, film, and politics,” curator Karen Comer Lowe said in a public statement.
“This digital exhibition is a recognition of the visual culture of Atlanta and the people who contribute to that culture. The works, while variant in medium, address a reckoning with the intersectional inequities of our being.”
A&E was founded in 2017 and serves as a neighborhood activation and economic development project for the downtown area. The company works to blend outdoor media with local art and digital activations to spotlight the city’s culture and impact.
The exhibit will be on display until July 31. Upcoming activations have not been announced yet, however more information on past programs can be found on the company’s website.
