As of June, half of Marylanders are fully vaccinated, hospitalizations are the lowest since March 2020, and the state is reporting the second lowest case rate in the nation.

According to the Maryland Department of Health, over 3 million Marylanders are fully vaccinated, with over 70 percent of adults having received at least one dose of the Covid-19 vaccine.

For the first time Maryland’s statewide seven-day positivity rate has dropped below one percent, down 84 percent since this past mid-April. This comes just after the state reported its first single-day positivity rate of below one percent last week.

Hospitalizations have also dropped 80 percent since mid-April now at a low of 245, the lowest it has been since March 29, 2020.

In just a few months, Maryland has reached several milestones showing that the state is emerging from the pandemic.

“All of our key health metrics are at or nearing their lowest levels, while our vaccinations continue to outpace the country,” said Governor Larry Hogan in a news release.

Governor Hogan has been committed to Maryland's recovery with the state’s “No Arm Left Behind” initiative, the Maryland Vaccine Equity Taskforce, and the VaxCash Promotion.

The “No Arm Left Behind” initiative has been an all-hands-on-deck effort to get vaccines to everyone that wants one as quickly as possible. The equity taskforce has ensured underserved, vulnerable, and hard-to-reach populations have received equitable delivery of vaccines. And to incentivize those who have yet to receive the vaccine and reward those who have, the governor announced a $2 million promotion that selects one $40,000 winner everyday for 40 days.

Since the governor has implemented these efforts in 2021, Maryland has been moving in the right direction towards nearing the end of this pandemic.

“We truly are close to that light at the end of the tunnel. Those of you who have not yet been vaccinated, please go get a vaccine as quickly as you can. Do it for yourself, do it for your family, do it for your friends, and do it so that all of us can put this global pandemic behind us,” said Governor Hogan.
