HOUSTON — The University of Houston Downtown (UHD) is now offering surplus property to any faculty or department of the campus. This means the university will help any faculty or department in need of extra furniture or office equipment by channeling UHD’s inventory of excess furniture, office equipment, and classroom furniture that is still in prime condition.

However, this surplus property is available for use on the UHD campus only, and it is not for personal use off-campus. Previously, the State of Texas encouraged the reuse of property within the university, cross-faculty, and department. Items provided by the management are available for use on a first-come, first-served, as-is basis.

To find out what items are available, send an email to FacilitiesWorkRequest@uhd.edu to request a visit to the surplus property area. After marking your desired items and facilities, the management will deliver them to your department. Be sure to check what your faculty or department needs before booking the items. Property available includes tables, chairs, desks, bookshelves, file cabinets, and podiums. Note that the inventory offered is non-IT equipment.

As the second-largest university in Houston, the University of Houston-Downtown (UHD) has served the educational needs of the nation’s fourth-largest city since 1974.

Led by President Loren J. Blanchard, every year this university educates more than 15,000 students and boasts more than 54,000 alumni and offers 44 bachelor’s, nine master’s degree programs, and 16 fully online programs within its five colleges: Marilyn Davies College of Business, Humanities & Social Sciences, Public Service, Sciences & Technology, and University College.
