CLEVELAND — The 4th Annual Transplant House of Cleveland’s 5K Run & 1 Mile Walk will be held on June 13th at 8:30 a.m. The races will be available virtually or in person.

Hermes Cleveland will direct event logistics on-site, and they will implement city restrictions on the runner’s group, including sending them off in waves. All waves will begin at 2029 E 115th St.

This year, participants will walk and run in honor of the late Brian Vitale, the founder of the event and a prior board member. The forthcoming event seeks to raise $50,000 and surpass last year’s tally of $46,000.

The organizers promises a “gathering of joy-filled individuals, friends, and families (including dogs) cheering for each other”. A commemorative T-shirt will be sent to anyone who participates.

All revenues will be utilized to support Transplant House’s free services and low-cost lodges. Interested parties can register for the event at https://runsignup.com/Race/OH/Cleveland/TransplantHouseofClevelandCares5KRunWalk.

Prospective sponsors can visit https://www.transplanthouseofcleveland.org/wp-content/uploads/2021/03/SPONSORSHIP-OPPORTUNITIES.pdf to find out more about their program.

Transplant House of Cleveland is a non-profit organization whose main aim is to provide affordable, temporary housing and a welcoming, supportive community to organ transplant patients and their families. In July 2014, the organization’s first apartment welcomed a pair of mother and daughter in pursuit of a 4-organ transplant.

In September 2019, the organization completed renovations on its buildings to provide more versatile space that allows it to offer “support programming to local patients and provides an escape from guest apartments and the chance for connection with others”.
