Upon the scholarship announcement, Harris said that the scholarship would reduce the financial burden on her parents and enable her to pursue her educational goals and dreams.
Harris will be entering the primary education program to be licensed to teach pre-K through fifth grade and special education. She admitted that her grandmother was her most significant influence to pursue the teaching profession, just like her grandmother used to be.
Larry Johnson, Jr., principal of Firestone CLC, spoke highly of her and commented that Harris is a visionary student and eager to help students experience success.
Established in 2020, the Harrington Scholarship is given to a recent graduate of Akron Public Schools who is directly admitted into UA’s LeBron James Family Foundation (LJFF) School of Education and wishes to have a teaching profession in the Akron Public Schools (APS).
