(DENVER, Colo.) Colorado Governor Jared Polis announced Friday that healthcare worker and Mead resident, Sally Sliger, is the first winner of the $1 million Colorado Comeback Cash Vaccine Drawings.

Sliger and her husband, Chris, were invited by Gov. Polis to his mansion Friday where he signed over the $1 million check, according to Denver7.

“I’m incredibly excited to be Colorado’s first Comeback Cash winner. This virus has forced my family to keep distance from our loved ones, and even postpone family events we’ve had for decades," said Sliger. "I encourage everyone to get vaccinated because of the freedoms this vaccine has provided me, my family, and my community."

Sliger also stated that she never doubted that she would receive the vaccine, claiming that she got it to protect her family, community and herself from COVID-19.

Coloradans who are vaccinated still have four chances to win $1 million as Sliger did. Residents who are 18 years and older will be automatically registered and entered to win the drawing, with the next drawing winners being announced June 11, June 18, June 25 and July 7.

In order to qualify to win by the last drawing, Coloradans are required to be vaccinated by June 30.

Additionally, 25 Coloradans ages 12 through 17 are also eligible to win the Colorado Comeback Cash Scholarship drawing of $50,000. Each week, five young residents who are have received at least one shot of the COVID-19 vaccine will be selected to win a scholarship for five weeks.

The drawings for the Comeback Cash Scholarship will take place on Mondays, with the winners being announced Fridays, starting June 11 and continuing on June 18, June 25, July 2 and July 9.

"Overnight Sally instantly became a millionaire just for getting the lifesaving COVID vaccine,” said Gov. Polis. “We want as many Coloradans as possible to be eligible to win $1 million dollars or a $50,000 scholarship if you are between 12 to 17 years old. If you haven’t made a plan to get the vaccine I encourage you to do so today. It’s quick, easy, free, and most of all, it will protect you and your loved ones from this awful virus.”
