PPD responded to a naked man on Grant Street and both a gun and a knife fight on a very busy day. We hit the highlights of the Portsmouth Police Chief’s Daily Briefing.

Woman Goes Missing From Campground

A man called police to the campground on River Road to report that his wife had been missing for three days. He was unable to provide any personally identifying information about the woman other than her phone number.

Police said the phone goes straight to voicemail. Officer checked the hospital but couldn’t find any records for the woman.

Suspicious Activity

At 1:31 am, a caller reported someone attempting to break into a vehicle on Park Avenue. Police could not locate the person.

Kids Gone Wild

Officers Investigate Possible Jumper

Police headed to the Grant Bridge just before 2 am to search for a jumper. A caller reported that a man left Wayne Hills earlier and said he was headed to jump off a bridge.

PPD checked the Grant Bridge while the Sheriff’s Office checked the 2nd Street Bridge. No jumper was found.

Under The Influence

At 2 am, officers responded to a report of an extremely intoxicated woman asking people at the Party Time Bar if they wanted to fight. She left before the police arrived.

Naked on Grant Street

A Grant Street caller reported a fully naked man walking around in an alley.

Officers were unable to locate the man.

Pitbull Seized on Franklin Avenue

Just after 8:30 am, police and animal control responded to a report of a loose pit bull on Franklin Avenue.

Police attempted to contact the owner of the dog and left a message. Animal Control took the loose dog and said the agency would take the owner’s other dog if it gets loose again.

Knife and Gun Fights

Police answered a report of three women fighting on 6th Street at 3:30 pm. One woman came outside with a knife in her hand and then went back inside and continued the fight. Police took arrested a woman for assault and transported her to the Scioto County Jail.

At 4:30 pm, officers responded to a report of a fight involving a gun on Kendall Avenue. Witnesses said a man confronted two women with a shotgun.
